High Hopes by Sue Lilley is an interesting story that digs deeps into the human psyche. Deceit, desire and deception add dark element to this rather intriguing plot. This was the first book I’ve read by this author so I was clueless as to what to expect. But as I got deep into the story I met characters were realistically flawed and I hated them for their actions. They were disloyal and without etiquette. But in the end they redeemed themselves for the good of innocent individuals involved. Without giving the plot away, since the blurb conflicts with the actual story within the covers, I’d say this is a story about people who have cheated on their loved ones and must face the consequences of their actions in order to redeem themselves and man up to their responsibilities.
